Visiting 1 country: Greenland

Sailing plays a significant role in the Greenlandic infrastructure and a cruise along the West coast of Greenland is the most awesome way to gain the full experience. Accommodation is hosted in outside cabins with private facilities. Combine hotel stays in Ilulissat and Narsaq with a cruise along the West Coast of Greenland. Sailing along the Greenlandic West Coast is the perfect way to meet the Greenlanders. Along the way from Ilulissat in the Disko Bay to Narsaq in South Greenland you will have plenty of time to experience the beautiful and varied country.

Famed for its giant icebergs and home to the World Heritage Site of Ilulissat Ice Fjord. This is the third largest town in Greenland and a city where modern life meets old traditions. Here, ice is the main theme! Get close to the icy giants covered in the rays of the midnight sun, on an amazing Ice Fjord cruise or join a full-day boat excursion to the calving glacier, Eqip Sermia. You can also visit some of the remote settlements, where fishing and hunting still is the only way to survive.

The Sea Voyage

Meet the local population travelling from town to town to visit relatives and friends along the coast. Enjoy the beautiful and varied landscape as we leave the rugged Arctic nature, in the Disko Bay, and reach green and fertile South Greenland. We sail in open waters and narrow straits, so close that you can almost touch the mountains. Along the way the ship calls at major towns and small settlements. Everywhere, the arrival of the ship makes people rush to the harbour to welcome friends and relatives. Life on board is relaxing; enjoy the view and make sure to keep your eyes open, as humpback whales are sometimes seen.

Narsaq, (meaning The Plain in Greenlandic) is a charming and beautiful village, known for its colourful wooden houses, and located in the amazing fjord systems of South Greenland. It is an area of great geological and historic interest. Several interesting minerals can be found on the outskirts of town, in the Kvanefjæld area. You’ll also see as well as the Viking ruins of Dyrnæs and the Landnamsgård, which are among the oldest Viking ruins dating back to AD 1000. Don’t miss the wonderful day trip to the Inland Icecap, sailing through waters filled with icy sculptures before landing in front of the Twin Glaciers offering you the opportunity to walk right up to the glacier front and touch the ice!
